Silvered glass vases were put together with portrait painted glass vase that was first broken and then glued.
Narcissus are vases where the visitor’s face turns into a reflection on the surface of the vase. They refer to selfportrait as a phenomenon in the history of painting.
The forms themselves are inspired by the shape of the human head. The inner shape, which was created by a special technique of silvering, is surrounded by a
broken shell of the external opaque vase. The exterior, more archaic – looking shapes were painted with oldmaster motives from Rembrandt’s and Georges de la Tour’s paintings. They are constrasting with the motive of Ironhide, which was taken out from the contemporary popculture. I broke these painted shapes with a hammer to achieve the fragmentation. This effect makes a penetration of the painted parts with the reflection of the reality possible. The blending of two layers of time happens.
