Marieta Tedenac (1997) creates objects at the intersection of design, contemporary art, and scientific research. For her, glass is not just a material but a medium that captures light, questions space, and preserves information over time. She develops these qualities through experiments with holography, polarizing films, optical fibers, and LED technologies.
In her series Holos, Ophelia, Aperion, and Iris Febris, she interweaves natural phenomena, religious symbolism, and art history with the language of digital data and optical principles. Her recent work increasingly focuses on wall-based and light installations, where form, physical phenomena, and light itself become carriers of meaning.
All her objects are created in collaboration with workshops and studios in Northern Bohemia – a region inscribed on the UNESCO World Heritage List in 2023 for its exceptional glassmaking tradition. Within the context of contemporary art, Tedenac belongs among the authors who expand the language of design towards the post-digital object and a critical engagement with optical perception.
Tedenac studied glass at the Academy of Arts, Architecture and Design in Prague (AAAD) under Rony Plesl and painting at the Academy of Fine Arts in Prague (AVU) under Michael Rittstein. She also completed a residency at the Rhode Island School of Design in the USA. Her works have been exhibited in London, Munich, Milan, Venice, and Providence, and are part of private collections worldwide.
