Marieta Tedenac is an artist working with light, perception, and the material conditions of visibility. Her practice explores how information, memory, and the present are mediated through optical phenomena and spatial experience. She is interested in a scientific approach to phenomena that we usually perceive intuitively: how light transforms over time, materializes memory, distorts images, and how reflections and digital aesthetics influence our perception of reality and ourselves. Her works often take the form of illusions, questioning what escapes direct visibility.
Glass in her work is not a subject in itself but a sensitive threshold – a medium that fractures, preserves, and destabilizes what is seen. Through laser holography, polarizing filters, optical fibers, and LED technologies, she creates situations where light becomes both a carrier of meaning and a tool for disrupting perception.
In series such as Holos, Ophelia, Aperion, and Iris Febris, Tedenac connects references to natural processes, symbolic systems, and art history with the logic of digital imaging and data transmission. Rooted in the glassmaking tradition of northern Bohemia, her practice offers a critical reinterpretation of this heritage within the context of contemporary art.
Tedenac studied glass at the Academy of Arts, Architecture and Design in Prague under Prof. Rony Plesl, and painting at the Academy of Fine Arts in Prague in the studio of Prof. Michael Rittstein. She also completed a study period at the Rhode Island School of Design in the United States under Prof. Sean Salstrom and Prof. Rachel Berwick. Her work has been presented internationally and is part of private collections.
